rod c,
"Prep" is short for "preppie" or "preppy" which is basically defined as a spoiled little rich kid (or thinks he is rich) and is more often that not very snobby, believes that his poop doesn't stink, and bascially under the misconception that he is better than everybody else. I'm sure that you have run into a few of "these" from time to time.
Mystic
The other day I was driving along and I looked in my rear view mirror and I see a yellow car coming up my way fast. I thought it had to be a mustang. So i slow it down to about 45mph on the high way with a speed limit of 75mph. He finally caught up to me and it turns out to be a gt mustang owned by some prep. So I do the usually to any mustang owner (base, gt, mach, svt, roush, saleen, any one) and I wave to him and nod my head. The prep looks at me and just grins. He gave me that I hate you because you drive a cobra look. Now that made me mad. So I caught up next to him and I give him a little rev. He takes off so i down shift to 4th and fly passed him. When he finally catchs up to me I gave him a thumbs up and still he gave me no response. Now I don't understand why people do that. We mustang drivers have 2 things in common. We love Ford and we love the Mustangs. Someone explain why all the haters are out there.
99 cobra
Dude I think might be reading things a bit too seriously...
Ever since I got my ute I've had numerous drivers pull up beside me and either give a smile/nod/wave/a "nice car mate"/a "rev it mate".... and my response is usually just a grin and a nod. I dunno how else to react? I hope they don't think of me as a "hater"... :o)

i own a jeep, and mustang, and i've noticed that when i'm in my jeep i always get a wave from other jeep drivers. Thats a fact, if you own a jeep or know anyone that does and you pass someone else in a jeep they always wave.
i try to wave at people in my mustang, and i've only got 3 waves back. either they give me the go to hell look, or they rev their damn engines up at me.
i wish mustang drivers could be as unified as jeep drivers.
but i've found out alot of people that drive mustangs think they're tough shit.
oh well.
