Hey guys,

I have just recently bought my 99 cobra 3 weeks ago and i love it. The looks i get are amazing (so are the girls)LOL. But i have trouble looking for a supercharger or turbo for my car. I have looked at ford racing and everything and they seem to miss my year. In summit racing they have 95 to 98 cobra supercharger (vortec) and then they have 2000 to 03. They have completely skiped my year. Can anyone help me.

Go look for a Vortech or even a KeeneBell screw type SC.

Made this in the other thread. I would look on Ebay if you want to use the stock from an 03. Several have been on there from those of us that have upgraded to a KB.

Vortech is the go .... fits sweet and there is no doubt about the extra ponies ...

(don't forget the after cooler)

I was thinking about going with the vortec. But i have a good hook up at ford to get a 03 sc. Do you guys know how much hp I will gain off that. Of course i would get the aftercooler. What would i need to modify before putting on a sc. I already have a 4.10diff, intake,shortshifter,5.0shift knob,and lowering springs. And i am looking at a carbon fiber drivershaft. What else would i need to modify.

I am not too familiar with the 99s as I would like to be. I would definately beef up the bottom end if it is not already done, either way with the vortech from aftermarket or the Eaton from Ford. I would look at clutch upgrade too, but that is just my opinion on it.

You'll need the lower intake, of course.

Throttle body, MAF, 24-36lb injectors, at least a 190lph pump-the huffers from the 03 Cobras are hungry little beasts.

Based upon what you would need, you'd be better off with the Vortec.

vortech have a good "kit" for the quadcam 4.6.... has all the bits and pieces you'll need ... 38lbers to a high flow pump

the vortech with aftercooler will take you to about 490 ponies ... so IMHO leave the clutch standard as the weak link and keep the motor stock ... maybe go for dished/worked piston later to drop the compression ratio a little ... re-chip it again .. hmmm that's what Ive done and it has worked for me

Hrmmm Rather stuff a KB in there. Problems with the vortechs are that they will make big peak power and some do make more power than the KB (at peak) since it is centrifugal but you will lose that low end grunt.

Now i have heard there is a new Procharger unit coming out at Sema that is able to get an 03 on 91 octane at 13psi to 590/500 rw. But we shall see at Sema.

I have the delema of cracking this box open and installing the twinscrew or waiting for SEMA and seeing what it is really like.
