The Ford Special Vehicle Team (SVT) has announced a custom Ford Red Carpet Lease program aimed at customers who may be putting off buying a 2004 SVT vehicle in anticipation of all-new versions to appear in the 2006 and 2007 model years. The innovative lease deal allows customers interested in the next-generation SVT vehicles to PowerLease an '04 SVT Mustang Cobra or F-150 Lightning to drive and enjoy up until the next-generation models are launched, when they can exercise a special priority ordering option to buy or lease the new model.
"There is great anticipation from SVT enthusiasts for our next-generation vehicles," said Tom Scarpello, marketing and sales manager for Ford SVT. "This program encourages buyers who may be hesitating to purchase a 2004 model SVT, to lease it instead. The lease runs until the next generation SVT is available, and the customer will have the option to buy or lease one of the first of those units. It is a hassle-free way to get into a new SVT vehicle now AND be first in line for one of the next generation SVTs when they come out."
The Ford Special Vehicle Team worked closely with Ford Credit to offer a unique lease program that was flexible enough to correspond with forecasted production dates of the upcoming SVT vehicles. Customers interested in the 2006 SVT F-150 Lightning can lease a 2004 Lightning for 24 months; SVT Mustang Cobra customers can expect a 30-month lease term. Under the terms of the PowerLease, termination dates can be adjusted to expire at precisely the same time that the respective next-generation SVT versions reach dealer showrooms.
With an SVT PowerLease, customers are also provided with a transferable ordering option that assures them "first-in-line" priority scheduling of the next-generation models. Option holders may then become among the very first to lease or buy the all-new 2006 SVT Lightning or 2007 SVT Cobra, currently scheduled for production in late-2005 and mid-2006, respectively. The SVT Information Center will be working closely with dealers and PowerLease customers to ensure a smooth transition between vehicles.
"Powerlease has already proven to be effective for SVT dealers," said Scarpello. "It has increased showroom traffic and given salespeople that extra tool to use as an option to keep SVT enthusiasts in the family."
