SVT MAKES 100,000th VEHICLE
As Ford's SVT performance spin-off plots deliveries of the first 390-hp
Mustang Cobras, the performance microbrand is also celebrating the
production of its 100,000th vehicle, a 2002 SVT F-150 Lightning. Special
Vehicle Team was made public at the 1992 Chicago auto show and first
delivered the 1993 SVT Mustang Cobra, following it with various
performance editions of the Contour sedan and F-150 pickups. Today's SVT
products include a 380-hp F-150 Lightning and the 170-hp SVT Focus; the
390-hp, '03 Cobra arrives at dealers in the fall.

I'm quite surprised about their numbers. I thought it would have been a little more than that.

Actually, that is about right, about 10k a year. But I don't think, or actually, I KNOW that the SVT Focus is not out yet, am I mistaken? Also, I think the SVT Focus should have a bit more power than that. Think about it, even the SVT Contour is 200hp. The Focus will be looked at as the weakest of all the SVT cars. I think the SVT Focus should at least match the 200 horsies that the Coutour puts out.

BTW: Can you buy SVT parts directly from them? Or do they only build complete cars?

The SVT Contour had a 2.5L Duratec V6 engine. Yes, that is the same 2.5LD that's in the Cougar. But, the Cougar isn't a SVT vehicle.:dead: Yeah, SVT comes out with only a certain number of cars per year. The Focus, well, Night Racing got a hold of one last year. Changed the valve springs, added a turbo. They got 300 horses out of the 2.0L Zetec. Now, the Focus RS that was shown in Europe. The reason that has 200hp, is because they remanufactured the entire engine. Havn't seen any new Focus SVT's either, think they're coming out in the fall.

I believe that the Duratec is also in the Taurus, oh wait, I think that's the 3.0L Duratec.......... maybe SVT should play with that engine! :s6:

The Taurus has a 3.0L Vulcan V6.:s6: Don't know if the the 24V and 32V engines are Duratec engines or not.

I know, the Vulcan is the base engine. Then the Duratec is the up-scale engine.
