I'm installing the strutts and have a quick question. On the top plate there's an arrow and a notch on the factory mount that points to the wheel, I thought I read somewhere that on the aftermarket and with FRPP springs this arrow should now be pointed in towards the engine? Please help!

Also I just noticed that there is a split piece of rubber tubing on the old spring that is a cushion on the bottom between the spring and the strutt, is this necessary?

Yes, when I installed the FRPP kit on my focus, I swapped over the little rubber piece's.

It helps to reduce noise if the springs ever clattered together, as far as the arrow? Point it the same way.
