just had a mate loose his car to an a$$ hole theif. after that and seeing the pics of BlownXR6's car i'm thinking of getting some better security for mu ute.
i'ts an au2 xr6 so has the smart lock etc.
does anyone know how good smartlock is from a theft point of view?
if it's not that good, what should i look at to make it more secure?
Try www.brant.com.au and get a better immobiliser. Brant do a 3 point immobiliser, with a range of arm/disarm methods and they also do alarms. Reasonable prices too.

also RA alarm is quite good, approved etc.
jaycars alarm is also quite good.
quicktrak is the only other solution.
if you need prices/installation, give me a yell.
(alarm tech) lol.
ps. insurance does NOT care and will NOT give you a discount on your insurance for a car alarm on a falcon because it has smartlock, its not the EASIEST car to steal and their very common so they dont give a rats ass pretty much. Although with quicktrak which is about over $1000 installed is 10% discounted or more by nrma and others.
some good reading there, i'm not sure how much i want to spend yet, but considering how much i have poured into the ute and the fact i would probably either hang myself or end up in jail for murder if somone stole it i think i'll be getting something at the top of the price range.
Yeah, I got to agree with fusion here !
My alarm has started to play up, so I am also looking at getting an alarm fitted.
AAMI doesn't care what alarm I have fitted, as they see it more as a liability, than a theft deterent. (I.E. it was classed as a vehicle modification in the same catagory as Aftermarket stereo, Alloy wheels, and window tiniting).
But I am also considering the amount of money that has been spent on my car, and even though Insurance knows about most of it, I would be devestated if I lost my pride and joy)
Smartlock is very difficult to bypass for amature thiefs such as joyriders, but professional thiefs can bypass it very easily, and very quickly. (With 2 ppl, it can take less than 30 seconds - I have seen it done by a mechanic).
Fusion, how much can you do Quicktrack and the Rhino's for ???
(Top of the range models, including fitting).
Sounds like your the man to go to for these things !
quiktrak is fairly expensive, your looking over $1500 mark for a standard car ..
quiktrak you only *REALLY* need say if you modified your car and your insurance wouldn't cover you enough+paranoia on your car going missing. no point otherwise.
an alarm or no alarm, quiktrak or no quiktrak, if someone wants something they see inside your car, your wheels, your body kit, they'll take it, whether or not they'll kill your car in the process they wont care! thts how it goes!
if your interested in gettin an alarm installed in your falcon, i suggest xyphoid would be the man to ask to do it!
