I've currently got a problem where my factory alarm (96 fairmont) goes off in the middle of the night for no reason. I've noticed the problem happens only at night (i.e bloody 3:30am) and it makes no difference if the windows are up or down (its got the microwave sensors). I've also noticed that the shock sensor has become somewhat sensitive.. Anyone had a similar problem or knows what might be causing this??

condensation on the bonnet switch, causing a small short, so change in voltage, and alarm goes off, try disconnect the bonnet switch for a night, and see what happens, that was the problem in my wifes lancer anyway, the bonnet switch was hanging around in the engine bay after a repair to the car, took 3 months to work that one out.

Do you have shock sensors? Cos I had the same problem, turns out it was the neighbour's cat jumping onto the car. You think it would have learned its lesson the first time

I like the bonnet switch theory.. makes sense! Thats why its been doing it at night, it catches water in the day then shorts at night.. Thanks dude... :)

Nocturnal creatures inside car? eg mice, huntsman spider or large roaches? Try fumigating and see if it fixes it.
