Try this mob

www.visionalarms.com.au

they do the upgrade alarms for Fords etc and i think they are out at Tullamarine.
I found the link when I was looking for info for the alarm fitted to the Wagon.

Cheers

Nah, the setup you describe wont make an iota of a difference to smartlock !
The thing will still perform sweet !
Luckily, the Lock/Unlock Switches are on the solenoids, not the Door Locks (Like some Lasers !)

Im looking at putting VN-VX Deadlocking Solenoids on mine, and will keep the exisitng door locks, though I WISH we could swap the rear handles over with the front ones, just like the VN-VS Model Commodores. (Looks nice and clean having no Cylinders in place !)

Cheers

the rear handles can be put in place of the front with no problem on the EF / EL

Hmmmmm, I gave it aquick (and bodgy go) and unfortunately, found that the back handles are just ever so slighty smaller (In terms of length). Roughly 1.5cm shorter.
So it means that roughly 2mm of the Door Lock Hole was exposed with a back Handle up front. (Well, that what happened when I gave it a go on some spare doors I had lying around for a while).

Though I have to admit I didnt try Moving the handle back, or drilling some new mounting holes further back, to try and cover the hole........ So I would be very interested if anyone has done this, and found no problems with it.

It would be nice to see some pictures of an EF/EL with it done.

I started looking into getting the hole welded up, and such, but it would eventially require a respray of the door, not to mention if the paint didnt quite match, a respray of the car Lol.......

I know the ELs actually had a Front Passenger Door one made up specifically for this purpose, which bolts straight on the EF's, but it still leaves the drivers door Lock exposed. (Though I will prolly get an EL one, for the sake of it).

As for the AU's Dammmm, I wouldnt be surprised.. Its always the way, you can do all the funky stuff on the other models, not the model that you have Hehehehehehe...
Cheers

Matti, just leave the drivers side exposed, a la AU's. Looks bloody good like that anyway..

U know if they had argon silver EL's, or did it go to that darker blue color?

hi,

fitted an nrma approved alrm to an ex ed fairmont. the smartlock still worked and actually enhanmced the system as smartlock already had 2 immobilisers and the alarm another 3!, so teh car was imobilised in 5 different spots. i could lock tegh car with smartrlock pad and my alrm would come on automatically after 10 secs, or i just used the alarm pad and it locked and armed the car at once. dont forget that smartlock works as soon as u remove the key from the ignition.

have fun!
