mad Annoying stereo/equaliser Problem!

I have a cheap head unit with CD player, it sounds fine on its own, but its not very powerful, so, I got an old equaliser out of an old car and stuck it in. The sound is so much better, must be some kind of amp in it. Only problem is, when I turn the equaliser on, I get a whining noise. And the noise increases with revs. Some sort of interference or feedback?
If I remember correctly, it didn't do it when I first put it in, but its been doing it bad recently.
Can anyone suggest what it could be?

Thanks!

David

Check the alternator suppression. But also try adjusting the two extreme end of the equaliser slides downwards.

On reflection I think it is more likely that the equaliser/amp earth has come loose.

If the equaliser has RCA outs make sure they arent touching the power wires too...its a common reason for engine noise...

Cheers
