Just wondering if anyone knows if you can put 6x9's in a au2 xr8 ute

I put a set of 6x9's in the back of my mates AU ute, basically I made up some 12mm MDF panels for each side, and cut the holes out for 6x9's where the old 5x7's were.
Trimmed the carpet around the hole and mounted the 6x9's
Sounds a lot better than it used to....

Yeah thats what i have been thinking
I want to keep the factory head unit(6 stacker) and mount the 6x9's in the rear pillars with maybe an amp if necessery
The 6x9's would almost be enough with the factory splits up front wouldn't they????? It's not like its a big area.

We used JBL 6x9's and later put in a kenwood amp (has got hi level inputs), it sounds sweet, but now hes had that for a month or two, he wants more.
With 6x9's have a listen to some at a shop, and buy the ones with the cleanest, and punchiest bass response, as the back of the ute doesnt help too much in this matter.

The MDF panels basically close off the whole area behind the pillar.

I hi-passed the factory fronts @ 120hz @6db/octave, also connected to the amp to reduce front distortion. The factory fronts sound pretty good for what they are.

With the amp, how did you go about connecting the auto remote lead? Is there one on the factory head deck before i pull it out? I'm considering installing a HiFonics pro 12 inch sub in my xr8 ute hehehe i know i'm mad.

Was thinking maybe a sub as well, but my ute has the cabin tidy box's and i wanna keep them. So that doesn't leave me much room :(
And the beauty of a ute 1 sub is well and truely all you need

I connected the amp remote to the switched 12v from the ignition.
I didnt have the pinouts of the deck, and couldnt be bothered checking them with a test light.

Ahh okay, I wondered if the signal was a specific thing from the head deck. So does it just need a 12v power source when the ignition is on to turn the remote on? Where abouts did you find something to hook it up to? I had abandoned this project but ou've just given me new hope.
