A guy here at work has a 1999 AU I Fairmont , with the same looking remote as my old '93 ED, where as my 2000 AU II has a 4 button remote. my car came with two remotes but his only came with one. I have a spare from the '93 ED that I no longer need - if I give it to him - what is the programming procedure ?

With my old '93 ED it was:-
- key to ACC
- boot unlock 3 times fast
- doors lock
- press button new remote

Also if I ever loose my remote what is the AU II programming procedure ?

You cant use AU2 remotes on an AU1, because AU2 has Smartshield whereas AU1 has Smartlock.

If you want to try it anyway, the procedure is in the manual. From memory I think it's turn the ignition to 1 then back and within 5 seconds press the rear demister button 3 times. The locks will cycle to indicate that the system is in learning mode. Press the lock button for each remote that you want to use but it probbaly won't work on account of back2thefutura's comment.
