I awoke Saturday morning to the sound of my Mum yelling at me that my car had been broken into. So i no longer own my Pioneer Deck .... $350 ..... Sony Amp ... i bought it off a mate for 50 buck (no real loss) ... my jacket $100 Cartrige out of the stacker $50 and the cds that were in it. And my mag light which was a 21st present. They didnt take my cd's ...(they didnt find em thank god.) and they didnt take the stacker. or my splits and 6x9s. ohh yeah and they broke my rear quarter window and bent the black strip under it as well. they also broke where the dash mounts to the deck because it was in there with security screws. The worst part is that they did it right out side where i live ... infront of the house.
So now i'm up for an alarm (about 400 bucks installed) has anyone fitted one of the smart lock upgrades themselves?? And a new deck.
I think i jinxed my self becase i went in to see how much an alarm would be last wednesday.

my car got broken into a few months ago, but all the silly fools took was my mobile phone (left laying in the cup holders) *doh* the remote for my deck and 3 dollars.. still it was a wakeup call for me. i now have a 500 $ alarm on there (for that price it should also fry their nuts when they touch the car) its got all the bells and whistles etc but what annoyed me was i called the insurance place and they said well that will be $250 basic excess plus i loose my no claim bonus plus my payments/rates will go up because i have made a claim. i rang around and it was $275 for a new window, fitted then tinted. They smashed the front left window, but before they smashed it they tryed to pry it out and ***ed all the seals
Hmmm, I wonder why people with a stereo and etc who don't have an alarm? You might as well leave the car unlocked!
Sorry to hear the news, it sux how ppl make money from stealing. With an alarm, at least the torch or jacket would have gone (basically what ever the thieves want to grab while the siren is going). When leaving the car NEVER leave anything on display, don't give theives a reason to break in and steal.
Sorry for the harshness.

Sorry to hear about it. My old car got broken into right in front of our house. But due to my immobiliser (which also locks the bonnet shut so there's no other way around it, and can only be unlocked by a really weird key). Funny thing is, they were busy trying to steal the car and took off after rolling it across the road cause they couldn't do anything with it. They didn't even touch the brand new sony stereo with cd stacker, etc.
I found out the other day that the car got stolen off the person who i sold it to. she couldn't work out how to put on the immobiliser after i told her 5 times.
I'd love to find an immobiliser like it for my new car, but i wouldn't have a clue where. i've never seen one anywhere other than in that car (which i bought from a dealer, so they don't know where it came from either.)
What are 'good' features for an alarm.
my car came with an alarm, but its just a factory one i think.
the little flashing light on the dash is a bit of a deterant alone!
it'll go off if any part of the car is open when smart lock is on.
locked my car with the bonnet a little open and it went off
btw, i thought u meant u baught a new stereo
"buy buy" should be "bye bye"
sorry to hear about the loss :/
one of my mates lost his stereo this week too, out of a VL.
