Cadence Subs

Yo guys,

I went to JB Hifi, and saw 2 12" cadence subs in a box for $399..

Are these subs good? I heard them running off a Coustic mono block 500wrms amp, and they sounded pretty beefy..

Anyone got any experience with them?

Cheers,
Yagz

Re: Cadence Subs

yeah my friend has one, they are alright to an average listener, they are almost bottom line.

If your happy with them, go for it.

Seems good bang for ya buck.

Re: Cadence Subs

I can always go a decent JL single 12" in a box, but i thought having 2 average subs will produce better sound down low without pumping too much juice through them than if i get a single and pump a lotta juice into it..

I got a quote for the 2 subs in a box, and a coustic mono block 500wrms amp for $850 + $50 for some 4 gauge wiring.

Cheers,
Yagz

Re: Cadence Subs

I have used there amps before, they are very good, not top of the range but still nice and reliable. Subs i dunno, your proberly better off getting a good sub, like VDO or something. VDO subs are good, just gotta make em nice tuned boxes.

Re: Cadence Subs

I'd just go a Decent JL, like a w3 or the w3v2. Even the w0 sound good for what they are.

Re: Cadence Subs

So the sound quality from one JL would be better than from these 2 cadnce subs running off the same amp?

Cheers,
Yagz

snavy: VDO good subs?

Yes, my friend had 2 10' VDO subs running off VDO amps, and they are the sweetest things i had ever herd. They were loud and sharp. They were in seperate boxes, and the boxes were fully tuned up.

Well it all really comes down to how much you wanna spend and how much room you wanna save. I usually recommend getting 1, more powerful sub rather than two that are half the power.

How much power do the cadence subs handle? Just as an example, in theory to gain 3db, you'd need either double the surface area (ie: another sub) or put double the power into one sub, so buying one w3 for example will sound as loud as two w0's, although you'll get better SQ from the w3, it will end up being cheaper to buy than two lower class subs and it'll take up less than half the room.

As I said, this is theoretically speaking, generally from what I've experienced, two w0's will go louder than a single w3, but the w3 sounds nicer.

But for $400 with a box you can't reallt complain, it's very hard to give advice though as we need to know the specs of the cadence subs to even attempt to compare it to other products.

OK so here's my view summed up...
: 1 more powerful sub can usually turn out cheaper
: Generally will be better SQ
: You'll often save more than half the space, as better subs don't need big enclosures to sound good.
: Also, You'll better setup for the future incase you wan't to upgrade by putting a second sub in, rather than sellin the cheaper subs to put better subs in place.

hope this helps...

My mate had one of those Cadence subs. He mealted the voice coil in two weeks, this was probably his fault but its still not very reassuring.
