My mom has a 2001 windstar with the standard AM/FM tape radio in it, and i have a 2001 focus SE with the stock cd player, but not the audiophile one. My mom wants a new radio with a cd player in it, and i want to upgrade to something new that will give me more control over the sound, so my question is this: can i take the head unit out of my focus and put it in my moms van and have it work right? that would make everybody happy cuz that way i can get something nice because my mom isnt picky about sound, all she cares is that it plays cd's.

It really doesn't matter what vehicle it is, as long as you know which wires are speakers power etc. you can put it in anything

It would pay to double check that the Focus isn't doing anything odd with the radio security wise (i.e. talking to the car somehow). Its unlikely, but possible, and that's about the only impediment that I can see.

I would possibly try the focus sub-forum - you might get a better response there . . .
