i think its more of a novelty... to incease awe factor. but still cool

when theyre installed professionally, ive heard its connected to the handbrake so that the screen only comes on when its up.
(Safety issue i'd say)

^^^^^^ I do exactly the same thing. Best addition I ever made. Psgr's luv it to, get to watch TV, DVD's and watch music clips as well. I rekon it's worth the money.

In car DVD if you have kids is a necessity. Took it from Canberra to Brisbane and back. Awesome.

On the positive side, while not travelling, it doubles up as a MP3 player.

sorta related: does anyone know a good program to convert .mpg and .avi files to DVD format. looking at doing exactly what was suggested on here, just don't know the programs to do it!

just put a computer in the car to go with the screen, i did and it works a treat.....

Music on tap, dvd drive to play dvd, can surf the net if you're real keen.....

And it's got wank factor.....

I used an E-vectra computer i bought off ebay for $120, and then upped the spec of it.... pIII 800, 256mb ram, 60gb hdd, and dvd..... owes me about $400 with a power supply.....

PM if you wanna know any more details.... it's so easy to do.......
