CD-6 pinouts?

Does anyone happen to have a list of the pinouts for the basic CD-6, not the premium models with the separate bass plug? I've got the stereo from a '01 Ranger and found a matching harness/plug from a '98 Explorer, but the wire colors don't match any of the guides I've been able to find or even those of the aftermarket Metra harness. So, hopefully someone knows of a list somewhere (or would be kind enough to check their own setup) of which pin corresponds to which function, i.e. #1 is 12v constant power, #2 is illumination, etc.

Thanks!
Dan

Re: CD-6 pinouts?

Perhaps it'll help if I post what I'm looking at and my best guesses thus far for what's what. Using the pin numbering labled on the plug and head unit:

1 - pink/black ... illumination
2 - black ... ground?
3 - pink/black
4 - blank
5 - orange/red ... rear right +
6 - gray/pink ... rear right -
7 - white/green ... front right +
8 - green/orange ... front right -

9 - green/purple (thick) ... constant 12v?
10 - yellow/black
11 - black/green (thin) ... ground?
12 - gray/blue ... rear left (l/r?)
13 - brown/yellow ... rear left (l/r?)
14 - orange/green ... front left (+?)
15 - blue/white ... front left (-?)
16 - black/green (thick) ... 12v accessory?

where the orientation is represented here with orange being pin #1:

Between that picture and the similar one (different manufacturer, though) here:

and these charts:

I filled in as much as I could above. That gets me pretty close, but I'm a bit nervous experimenting blindly, not knowing which is power and ground...

Re: CD-6 pinouts?

Found some helpful diagrams:

http://www.stangnet.com/Tech-Article...ad-Unit-7.html
http://www.stangnet.com/Tech-Article...d-Unit-10.html

That more or less confirms my guesses for pins #1, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, and 15. Looks like I was also right on my long-shot hunches about 2 and 11 being ground, but it appears 16 is the main ground. I'm not sure what that makes of 2 and 11, unless they're dimmer ground or something. Also, 3 is "Hot in Start" and 10 is "Hot in Acc or Run," which seems rather redundant. Of course, those diagrams are for the more complex Mustang setup, so it might be that not all pins are put to identical use in all the setups. I might have to experiment with which of the pins is my 12v Accessory, but at least the other important ones look to be clarified.
