Just looking for some audio tips for my new Taurus.

Seriously, my opinion is to leave it alone. I know it sucks, but I have seen to many people screw it up. Many big name stores Circuit City, Best Buy, etc. wont work on 05 Taurus because the airbag sensor is so rediculously sensitive. I would recommend having an insuranced shop do the work if you do decide to do something. You dont want to screw something up yourself and be liable for it. Replacing speakers or adding amps not an issue, its replacing the head unit which is trouble. Not to mention to the dash kit for the air controls is usually around $90. Dont remember if the tuner is in the back like the escorts, but if it is that'll cost more too. So my opinion is to replace the speakers, and get an amp that has high level inputs with input remote turn on so you dont have to take radio out at all. You can do the subs the same way. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. That is what Best Buy suggested as well. I've waited a bit to do some of this stuff, but I'm now thinking of it again. I just got the ipod2car system installed, and that works great. Now I just need it to sound better. I like my car alot, but it has the worst factory speakers I've ever had in a vehicle.

Oh yeah, the tuner is indeed in the trunk. I am going to just leave the head unit alone for now, especially since I have the ipod stuff installed, which is specifically designed for the factory radio.

Replace the speakers and install a high-z amp...you'll be surprised what that will do!
