CD/Tuner Resale Question - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

This question isn't really an EA one.

I just replaced the Clarion CD/Tuner in my EA with a brand new Kenwood system (forked out $2,000 today for the system, speakers, central locking, imobilizer & alarm).

I'm wondering if the older CD/Tuners have any resale value... I think the Clarion unit is a DRB-3375 or something like that... your basic single CD with detachable face.

If they aren't worth much I may as well keep it to put back in the car when I go to sell it in a few years. Mind you, I've still got the original Ford Tape/Tuner that I can always put back in.

Should I try and sell it? How much for? Anyone want to buy one?

Realistically.... once the next season models come out.. your unit decpreciates by about 50% in total each year depending on how high/low end in the lineup it is.

For example.. i bought a Pioneer 4350 (last years model) for 490 as soon as it came out - THAT was a GOOD PRICE back then. I recently sold it for 250 to my brother 8 months later (which is still cheap).

I then bought a Pioneer 6350 current model off someone for unbelievably cheap for 300bux without a remote. Retail is now about 599 new at JB hifi after a huge price drop from 899.

I bought an ex-demo Kenwood unit that used to be sold for $900 at JB, and I paid only half that for it. So it's true that a secondhand example would possibly have gone for even less than that...
