Changing front stock 4inch speakers in EA fairmont GHIA - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hi i want to change the 4inch front speakers in my fairmont ghia and i just wanted to check if the following is correct:

* that i just need to take the door mouldings off that is held on by the screws around the door trim to get to the speakers

* do i need to do anything else to take the door trim off? what bout the handle that opens the doors up or do they just stay on?

Also the electric antenna mast snapped in my car and i was wandering if anyone has changed those before? and also do anyone know where you can get hold of one the ppl from ford quoted me 50 dollars for a mast which i found pretty ridiculous since its jsut a pice of metal that goes up and down.

u need to emove the handle as well. There are three screws, once they along with the screws in the trim are off, the door should come off. Then, all u have to do is unscrew the speakers.

NB, the handle has the door open mechanism attached to it via a tight cord, mak sure u undo it and remember how u undid it so as to anable urself to do it up again, as sometimes it can be a bitch.

and when u remove the door trim... hold it from the bottom and firmly tug up so the clips will undo on the window sill (black strip running accross the top of the trim)

Should mention that the screws in the handle's are torx head...

Thats funny, coz my regular philips head screw driver had no problem removing the door handles.
