there are a lot of mp3 encoders available. www.musicmatch.com is a simple program that does a good job.
try www.download.com and search for mp3 encoders for more.

Just checking: You've got a headunit that can play MP3s and you want to know to make them?
You'll need software such as MusicMatch Jukebox, AudioCatalyst or any other audio software that allows you to make Personal Backups™ of your music CDs.
I personally use AudioCatalyst. It's 4 years old now but it does a great job.
Alternatively, to make MP3s out of nothing you'll need something like eMule, Kazaa or any other file sharing software allows you to Try Before You Buy™.
Good Luck!
BTW, I think this belongs in the In Car Enterainment forum...

well once you've got your mp3s all sorted, you just need a cd burner for drop them onto a CD.. you know its a MP3 CD when you can fit over 30 songs on and have plenty room to go. (if you can only fit 20 or so songs on, then its an audio cd, what you can play in home stereo types.)
Previous ride: EBII V8 Manual Ghia spring roll.
Current ride: 1970 ZC 351 Fairlane Custom.. (estimated 350ftlb @ 2000rpm.. max torque 420ftlb at 4500rpm.. with standard exhaust manifold!)
Buy NERO or Easy CD Creator or something similar....you'll need a cd burner to burn the cd's.
Other than that, mp3 players are really good, especially if you get an 700MB or even 750MB cd's because then you can fit hundreds of songs on just a single cd....bye bye to the days of carting around numerous cd wallets to just have a 100 songs if your lucky.
Thanks
Dane.

Errr if they're mp3's you should be able to fit around 150 full length songs per cd.....
in actual fact the most usually you can fit on one cd of mp3s is 240 ,or that may the most that most mp3 players can read.but the quallity is not as good but you should get about 150 good quall songs per cd ,
