i have a pretty basic setup in my car and i was wondering if putting in an equalizer would make any difference, i have a Kenwood Headunit KDC 1023, Kenwood 6x9's in the rear parcel shelf and boss audio 4" splits up front.
Will adding an equalizer make any difference or what. What are the pros and cons?
For the price of a decent active EQ, i'd say no, it wouldnt be worth it.
Youd be much better off spending a few $$ on a decent amp, even if its a 2nd hand one from cash converters or something like that. Run the 6x9's off the amp and also the 4" fronts, but use a 100uf cap in series with the 4".
I'd agree with the above, throw your money at a decent amp.
In fact, even the better EQ's are useless if you don't know how to calibrate them properly.
I wouldn't use a cap in line with the front drivers though, you'll kill any quality that the front speakrs had.
Run them full range or make sure the amp you buy has a high pass filter.
It depends on the EQ, you will find most head units will put out the same amount of power, if not more than what an equaliser would. (unless its a passive one, which will require a seperate amp)
Personally, I'd say pass on it,
but if you can, get some specs on it anyway.
Unless it a passive EQ, in other words, you will need an amp to hear anything from your speakers, then let it go.
