DVD/MP3 Player - Watch DVD Movies in your BA on the factory screen
Hi Guys,
Yes that is right, you can now turn your BA premium sound system into a mobile theatre, what DVD movies and play MP3 files.
No dashboard modifications are done. The Blaupunkt system even uses the factory IR. Audio is via the AuX input on the factory system - You can buy a lead from ford to activate this feature on you cars now! P/N BA 289455 AA
The system it activated/deactivated by pushing and holding one of the remote buttons for three seconds. - This removes the need to add ugly switches!
All the factory screen information is overlayed when needed. E.G. If you are watching a DVD and you adjust the heater, the heater info will appear in a window over the DVD images for a few seconds.
The Blaupunkt navigation system is fast and easy to use. It actually won the fasted dynamic navigation system in Europe in 2002! This is a quality built unit - Same unit as the Mercs - Made in Germany!
For the technical Gurus - The input to the factory screen is RGB + Sync format and you to add a further 4 Blaupunkt screens and 4 more A/V inputs for the ultimate rear seat entertainment.
You can connect a reverse cammera also!
The DVD/MP3 add-on feature is an awesome addition.

Ok so has anybody looked further into these? Is anybody interested in them?
Hell - looks like a ripper of a product from a quality company, and if I had a BA with premium ICC, I'd be saving my pennies for one ASAP!!

Re: DVD/MP3 Player - Watch DVD Movies in your BA on the factory screen
I've was pretty keen to get a Blaupunkt DVD installed in my car. So, I got a contact from Blau's website for a dealer in Canberra. I rang them about 6 or 7 weeks ago to see if I could get it installed but I was told it was out of stock, and wouldn't be available for another few weeks. I was going on holidays so I said cool, I'll get it installed after my holidays. Now, before I go on, this ISN'T a Blaupunkt bagging so bare with me. Anyway, last week I rang this installer and organised to have it installed and after waiting on the phone for god knows how long, I was told, yep that'll be fine. So after paying a $200 deposit(that's the last time I do that) we set an install date for today. Now I don't know why I did this, but I thought I'd ring the installer yesterday to confirm that the install was right to go ahead for tomorrow. So I waited a few minutes then was told Yep, everything's here ready to go. Cool I thought. I rock up this morning, the fella was nice as pie, very pleasant infact. He showed me the dvd player and adaptor and things and I was about to give him my car keys when I noticed the dvd player was not Blau. I said to him I'ts supposed to be a Blau DVD player. He said, yeh, the adaptor is Blau, the DVD is a vision. He continued to tell me it had mp3 and all region compatibility quote " I thiiiink". I said, so how much is this. He said $1499 + installation as agreed. I said yeh, but not a no name DVD player(it was a Vision or some crap that he reckons are made by Blau.) Anyway, I told him I wanted the Blau and was told it was out of stock. I said but we confirmed everything was right to go yesterday. He kept trying to tell my how the Vision was a better unit and how he thought it would be better for me and nah nah nah. So after trying to sell me a Clarion(nice, but NOT what I wanted.) he tells me there other branch has a Blau in the wall case on display(demo model) and they'll install that untill the they come back into stock which was approximately January. Nup, I'm from out of town, I haven't got time to keep coming back to have things changed over and be without my car for a whole day so I just asked for my deposit back. Well, that was another dilemma. "Oh, the boss(who was hiding out the back, even after I asked the 'kid' to go get him) reckons a refund will be too hard cause it was a special order. I said but you didn't even order what I wanted. He tried to tell me the brand of DVD player wasn't even discussed on the telephone. He went out t the boss about 3 or 4 times after me arguing with him, then came back and said ' ok, the boss has agreed to give you $150 back.' By this time, my gf was still standing outside waiting, I just wanted to go, so I agreed to $150. We did the transaction and I left with the sh*ts(traction control on of course). So after all this, I was so angry and just decided not to bother with the whole thing. So what really shat me about the whole thing was not so much the refund(which was rude of them but anyway) but the fact how they were just more than happy to try to give me something else other than what I payed. it was a crap brand, didn't even have a lcd display on it. they wanted and to still charge me full price. they lied by saying it was a better unit, then told me the Blau was out of stock after I demanded it. Then at the end he said 'sorry for the trouble' So they admit it was all there wrong doing. Like I said earlier, this has nothing to do with Blaupunkt, I rate their product very highly, thats why I demanded It or nothing(losing $50 in the process and a whole days trip wasted driving to canberra---early). I have never put down cash deposits before as I've never been comfortable with it but I did it once and got bitten. All I can say to everyone, If you're not a skeptic, not 100% sure on what/who about everything you do with your money and time when it comes to these sorts of things, think about this instance and what happened to me on Tuesday.
Re: DVD/MP3 Player - Watch DVD Movies in your BA on the factory screen
This certainly sounds like a bad experience... Perhaps you should name the dealer so others can avoid the place, and also e-mail Blaupunkt about the experience..
I'm also keen on finding out more about the "multimedia interface" as it sounds really promising, but the fact that you had to drive all the way to Canberra must mean there is no-one in Sydney that deals in the stuff yet??
