EF head unit stacker compatabilty

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what, if any, brands of CD stacker are compatable with the factory EF rad/cass/CD head unit? Must it be the genuine "Ford" unit or will some other brand work?

I don't want the added cost of changing the head unit also.

If I am committed to using the Ford changer, does anyone have one for sale?

Thanks.

Re: EF head unit stacker compatabilty

Fairlanebyford, I have no idea about which stacker ya can use on the standard head unit but I have a Pioneer 6 stacker in my car at the moment and it doesn't fit into my new head unit. My old one blew up a few months ago and I didn't have enough money for an mp3 player with cd changer capabilities.

If ya find out that the standard head unit can work a pioneer stacker, pm me becuase I am quite willing to sell my stacker becuase it is just sitting in my car doing nothing at the moment.

Hope ya find the info ya are looking for.

Re: EF head unit stacker compatabilty

An Alpine stacker (M-Bus type not AiNet) will run with the Ford EF EL HU. Model number should start with a CHM (M of M bus) or if they are a bit older they just have a four digit model number like "5960". Don't bother with the CHA model numbers.

There are a few on sale at e-bay. Should be between $75 & $175. I got one for $52 but I was lucky.

One thing you will need is an adapter cable to go between the HU rectagular plug & the 8 pin DIN plug used by Alpine. Once again I was lucky. My FE Fairmont wagon had one fitted when I bought it.

Good luck
