Hey all, Dose any body know the best way to install a head unit in an EL/Ef (not sure what it is) Do you just us the orignal mounting brackets and screw them to the head unit????

Yeah just screw th orginal brackets into the new unit and you'll be sweet.

I recall having heaps of problems using the factory headunit brackets to accommodate for an aftermarket deck - I fabricated some brackets for both my EL and the gf's EL too. From my experience, lots (if not most) aftermarket decks have great provision for installing into Jap cars, but little for our Falcs. If you are able to just 'plug and play' so to speak - I'd love to hear what you did and what deck you fitted =D

I bastardised the ford bracket with a few cuts and holes to get my Kenwood 2020 deck to fit - certainly not a 'plug and play' install...

I installed mine a few months ago and had to attack the brackets with a drill and hammer

I put in a Kenwood PS911R and I used the original brackets and cable tied them to the head unit.
I also used the AerPro conecter plug and it was a straight forward install.

Maybe the ED's are better, it took me 20mins to change my decks over, the longest part being unpackng the JVC MP3 playe from is own box.

The ED's brackets went straight on, I even had options on whether to have the deck sit flush or sit out the depth of the surround.

Maybe EL >>>>'s are different.

i used the factory brackets, had a few problems getting it in, really tight fit.
but i forced it in, good luck to anyone stealing it now :D

Yeah, it really is a bit of an effort doing it. My only advice to people wanting to do this is to not rush it - take the time to make fabricated brackets or "modify" *read chop up* the factory ones. Good for the guys with the EA-ED's though !
