Hi all,

Just had a few probs when trying to install a new Head unit in my 97 EL GLi.

I need to know what colour the Battery 12v constant power wire is... kinda important you know?

I've been told it's green with a yellow stripe, but mine seems more turquoise than green, and there's no stripe.

The wires it could be are numbers 2 and 6 on the larger DIN of the factory tape deck.

They are coloured turquoisey-green at number 6, and black with a pink stripe at number 2.

Which wire do I want? Willing to try, but I've already blown a fuse and the engine won't start because of that. I can't find out for sure until tomorrow... I just don't want to risk any more serious damage to my car.

Just make sure you have a test light, or multimeter. Makes things sooooo much easier. Just probe with it till you have 12 volts with the key off, and that will be your constant power.
