Front seats!
I have decided to redo the stereo in my ute again to match the the sub box I fabbed up out of fiberglass and mdf and the first lot of door pods are not up to the same standard (or extreme enough) as the box.I have started to make up pods to suit a 8" driver and a 5" mid with the tweeters mounted at the base of the pillars/windscreen for a higher sound stage. The subs are two 15" Pioneers and the car is very bass heavy and it needs the rather large front end to give me a good sound stage and imaging with grunt to match the subs.
My problem is the pods are big and angle out a fair way (but I don't mind as it's the look I was after) and there is minimal clearence on the sides of the seats. What I would like to know if anyone knows or may think of a pair of seats out of another car that are a bit thinner than the XF style buckets than may slot in there. My other option is to move the seats over about 20mm and just adjust to the new driving position.I remember LC and LJ Toranas (I hope I can say that here) had a offset column/driving position and were fine to drive well aside from the fact they are holdens of course.
I can make up a new set of rails easy to suit if need be but a idea of what to go looking for before I head off to the wreckers or ebay would help out heaps before I purchase crap I dont need.
Any ideas would be great please.
