how do i go about getting the speakers out of the AU. do the covers just unlip, do i have to take all the front door trims off? how do i go about it?

Front door removal of trim, I doubt things would have changed since the release of the e-series.

Dont ask me how the trims come off I wouldn't know.

Yep, you need to remove the door trims first. I found these old threads that may help:

Remove rear speakers

5x7 in AU

Install front splits in AU

thanks JC i was about to do a search myself on the topic i have replaced the 5 x 7 rears last weekend with pioneers and i am going to do front splits in the next couple of weeks.
Just need some time to audition some splits for the job..... cheers mate!

Purchased a pair of alpine 6 inch splits on the weekend while i was at Auto Salon $130 off an already reduced price!!

200w max 50w RMS now all i have to do is make some spacers and hook em up! BTW reasonable amp will be on the way shortly to add some punch..... Then i would think some sound deadening for the doors!!!

Oh yeah have to get the AU2 A pillar trimms to mount the tweeters as well.
