Im just about to buy a Pioneer DEH-1550 for $200. Are these head units any good. IUve been told u can only run a 4-channel amp of them. I am hoping to run either two 10" subs or one 12". Will this head unit be up to the task? Sorry if it doesnt really make sense, but i think some people are trying to put stupid ideas in my head. So will this Head unit be up to the job for say a system which includes 2 6x9s, two 10" subs, and two 6" door speakers. Thanks guys.
In general, the more you pay the better you get! Up to a certain point of course... The HU is one of the most important components in an audio system so I suggest that you save up more money and get a decent HU with more outputs and features etc. I am not sure how much money you have, but $500 is probably a good start so look at the DEH-5550.
Well for $200 it's prolly only got 1 RCA output, which means only one amp can be connected directly off the headunit. Getting this HU will mean that the ability to connect up a second amp will depend on the amps themselves. If your first amp has line in and line out RCA plugs, then you'll be able to daisy wire the amps by running an RCA lead from the output of one to the input of another.
But yeah, generally the more you pay the better you'll get, which includes more and better options and settings adjustable from the headunit as well as build, design & sound quality. It's worth payin a little extra for the higher models. I wouldn't get anything under $450....
So you reakon it wont be worth it? Im only planning to run a four-channel amp for a sub, and the door, speakers or 6x9's. For just this, would it be worth it?
