hi there. don't really know all that much about sound sytems so could someone tell me what is the best head unit i would be looking at for under $400. Has anyone got any good specials going in vic that i should be aware of. hi fi supermarket has got some 2003 pioneer that seem pretty cheap. mp3 sub control 50wx4. any advice on what to look for as well would be much appriciated. thanks

I find hi fi sup. to be about the best for price, especially if you tell em that you're paying cash.

Yeah the 2003 Pioneer range is tops, I can tell you from experience.

You can get a good deal on older/demo stock if you don't mind using it. I recommend Strathfield, you can get some good bargains there.

Hey buddy, if you want a good cheap h/u for under 400 i suggest a JVC KD-SX995 it got:
sub control as well as front rear and sub outs, plus mp3 and remote, which is pretty hard to get for under that price, 2 of my mates have them and they seem to be really good value.

JVC HU are usually the best value at around that price range...
