he peeps, i have decided i want to do something about my stereo install, at the moment it looks pretty, but its bloody heavy.
now in order to shed a little weight i have ditched the spare tyre in favour of an electric pump and a puncture repair kit, and i reckon i can ditch another 5-10kg by removing some excess mdf from the boot.
i want to put the amps in the spare wheel well, with perspex over the top, and i want to know what sort of orientation i should be going for...
ie: both amps facing the back of the car with the 'tops' raised sort of like tiles, or one facing each side of the car with the 'tops' raised, or facing togather?? i will do diagrams if you dont get what i mean.
i will still be using the blue and red neons that i already have, and using fans to keep the amps cool too...so what should i do peoples?

Well, why not do similar to my install and fibre glass the spare wheel well, have an MDF baffle over the top and use that as a sub enclosure.
Doing this will mean you can ditch that heavy MDF encolsure you have now in favour of a fibre glass one that will be 10 times lighter, less porous and just if not more stronger than the one you have now. It will also free up the ski port meaning all that glorious bass can get to the cabin. Spare tire well has about 2 cubic feet of space in it, so it should be right for both your subs.. :)
what am i gunna do with the amps if the subs are in the spare wheel well? can you give me a link to what your stezza looks like? i cant remember...
and i cant ditch the towbar cause a)its great at protecting my rear skirt - it smashes concrete instead of the concrete smashing the skirts :s6: and b) i need to tow occasionally :S

rmyers how big is your subwoofer and how much power are you running thru it? how good do you find that setup and what kind of SPL readings are you getting out of it?
The sub is a 15 inch. It does however have about the same surface area as a 12" due to the thicker surrounds. It is getting roughly 900wrms from one of the alpines.
On the old meter's it measured 140db and on the new one it was 136db which is accurate as the new meters score roughly 4db lower than the old ones. The main problem is giving the amps enough juice to power the sub properly, at that time my voltage was dropping to 11v which would realistically see more like 500wrms getting to the sub. That reading was done with a dying alternator, now that I have a larger one installed and my voltage is alot more steady, I'll easily see my score gain about 2db...
