Question Hybrid Nav Question

I wasn't sure whether I should put this in the Escape Forum or here, but I will start here.

Question: Will the 2008 Escape Hybrid Nav System fit in a 2007 Escape hybrid?

I am on my 4th Nav system and I bought the car in January. They keep breaking. I am wondering if the 2008 Nav -- which is a different model -- might be a feasible option.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Scott

Re: Hybrid Nav Question

How do they break? Are you talking about dash mounted units or ones that install in the factory location? I do not know about the particulars of the two vehicles. The easiest way to find out is to find out if the aftermarket wiring harnesses used for each model vehicle is the same or is it different. If the units look the same from the outside and the aftermarket harnesses are the same you can probably just swap one for the other.

Have you looked into aftermarket units like the Pioneer or Alpine?

Re: Hybrid Nav Question

It is the Ford factory installed nav system. It includes some cool tools to monitor your mileage and hybrid engine as well. I simply want to switch the 20007 unit for the 2008 unit.

As for what problems I have been having?

First Unit: Stopped reading the DVDs.
Second: Would not connect to the GPS
Third: Connected to GPS, but had my vehicle about 5 miles east of its actual location
Fourth: It is installed now, but the buttons are not working.

*sigh*

I think I may just have to put pressure on the dealership -- again -- to try to rectify this. It is tiresome.
