I'm just about about to wire up an upgrade alarm to my au but am curious where the smartlock module(BEM?) is located? Can anyone explain how to get to it?

on the ef/el's, it was located where the handbrake use to be on ea-ed's. ie, behind the panel above your left knee....

Just get under your dash and have a look....

The bem is locationed next to your steering wheel on the left.

I attached a pic with an arrow pointing to where it is exactly..

(Sorry xyphoid only pic i had with dash apart was ur car on hand lol!)

I suggest not doing the alarm yourself unless you actually know what your doing so you wont get yourself into sheet! :s2:

go to www.fordmods.com and there will be info on the cables etc there for you if you do decide to give it a go!

be very wary about upgrade car alarms, as these upgrade systems use the existing ford remote. the bad thing about the ford remote for smart lock is they are not rolling code, I know this because I recently had my EbII XR6 stolen with a Rhino upgrade kit fitted and through my frustration did some research and also found that ford have a system for learning new keys as well, I suggest you also fit acouple of hidden switches that immobilise the fuel pump etc to make sure it won't get stolen cause believe me insurance companies a fine while their taking your money but barstards when you want some of theirs

any ford keyfob can learn any other ford.. :)

dont get an upgrade alarm, get another type of an alarm.
