Interfacing Alarm with Smartlock
I think I have worked out a way so that I can interface an alarm with Smartlock in my NC and use the existing remotes. I have built a screecher alarm kit (Jaycar, Altronics, DSE kit) and intend to use a double pole latching relay (Jaycar SY-4060) to turn it on when I lock the doors - smartlock's pink/black wire from door locks).
I then intend to take a wire from from the diode junction that's between the starter motor and smartlock to a) latch the power supply to the alarm off and b) use another relay (Jaycar Sy- 4059) to interrupt the door switch supply to the latching relay so the alarm doesn't turm on if I use the dash switch to lock the doors while the key is in the ignition. I have assembled it all on the bench and it all works fine there. Problem: I can't find that diode so I can make the connection. The one I thought it was under the dash was the Auto Climate Control and using that had some interesting results (I made sure I identified the ABS one first so I wasn't putting lives at risk).
Why the diode? Well I can piggyback a "T" plug between the diode where it plugs in making a very original looking and neat connection and hopefully also ensure that I connect to the right side of the diode so the alarm doesn't upset that Smartlock or strating system. Anyone know where that diode hides?
