Need help with 1999 Cougar, ignition and security.. - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

ok.. so we put the key in to start the cougar.. the key turns over but doesnt start the car like it normally would, we noticed the security light flashing like crazy so im assuming it has something to do with either the key itself or the security having an immobiliser(didnt know if we had one so we wouldnt know anything about it) and it pretty much not letting us start it asthough its thinking where trying to steal it.. all other electrics work..
Would and electric diagram help?

Had an auto electrician look at it and all they could come up with was that under the main body earth had corroded under the fuse box???
Obviously this was wrong.. as a few hours after picking ip up from them.. we couldnt start it again.

In desperate need of help, not many mechanics know what they are doing as the town we live in has only one cougar.. ours!

is the security light a factory item ( designed into the dash ) or is it an after market type ( round flashing light that looks like it has been added on.)??

if it is a factory security system it will proberly have a computer chip in the head of the key that controls it when you turn the ignition on. there could be a problem with this ??

if it is an after market security system that has been added by a previous owner and you dont have the remote controls , then you may need to have it removed and the wireing restored to original.

i`m stabing in the dark a bit here because we have very few late model american ford cars here in Australia , i have seen a couple of cougars on the road but thats about as close as i have been to one.
just going on my experiance with fitting aftermarket security systems.
