Following up from this thread, we finally have a proposition for the bulk-buying of UHF hand-held CB radios. The product selected is the Digitalk SP3380 - not the last word in brand names perhaps, but clearly the best value readily available product for the money. Here are some specs:

- Covers Australian 40 UHF CB channels and repeaters
- Green backlit LCD screen
- 0.5W maximum RF output
- Range up to 5km
- No license required
- Fully compliant with Australian Communication Authority guidelines
- Channel scan & call alert
- Key lock to prevent unwanted, accidental key entry
- Battery condition bargraph display
- Transmit confirm LED
- Removable belt clip
- Dual time & stopwatch function
- Vox (voice activation)
- Push button volume and channel select
- Call tone transmitting

All you'll need to use it is 4 x AAA batteries. A large picture can be found here.

The price of $40 is the cost per unit of 10 or more from Jaycar. This means the units can be handed out at meets, and a similar 10+ deal can be done in each other state so that all members benefit from the same deal. If there are any issues with this please let me know. As was stated in the last thread, this offer is open to all FF and all E-series members!

Now to clarify:

Package 1 The unit, for $40 - will need batteries

Package 2 The unit, plus an in-car charger, as well as 4 rechargable NiMH batteries to suit $62

So that's the final proposition, now we need to know who is in so we know how many to order!

Just to clarify guys, there are actually 3 items in question: the unit, charger and batteries. We'll call them package 1 and 2. Original post will be edited.

This thread no longer applies to Vic members - please express your interest if you are in Qld/SA/WA/NSW/ACT and I hope you guys will be able to get together and work something out. The same deal will apply if at least 10 Package 2 deals can be struck, and full details will be found on the Jaycar web site.

As for Vic members, I am about to make the bulk buy and I ask you please to attend the meet next month so I can deliver orders as many as possible. It'll cost me over $700 on the credit card and I will be having to pay interest in the meantime.

Sounds like a pretty good idea.This has been something I've been going to do in our region for a while but everytime its brought up its something to do next time.

Well in order for those prices to remain, a minimum of 10 package 2 orders need to be confirmed. Jaycar will still sell them to you if you are buying a smaller number, but it will cost a little more per unit.

I had a loook a t the jaycar website and the CB's you have pics of are different to the ones on the website and they are about $20 more even if you have an order of 10.I might go in there on Saturday and give them the part number of your type and see what happens.Mind you they have next to the picture NEW in bluck letters,see what happens.
