Ok guys im thinking of getting that $450 dvd tv kit from Strathfield
I have some question im going to mount the dvd player in the boot but my main concer is how the hell do i get sound to go thru my speakers. I havnt looked into it at all and the tv will only be mounted on a bracket in there on trips. Im driving to noosa this year and i wouldnt mind having it hooked up by then so my mates can watch dvds why i drive and then when its there turn to drive i can enjoy it aswell.
Just wondering if i can hook it up to standard system if so how.
The ones i've seen mount in your radio/cd hole- so you can use it for cd player etc. Screen goes on roof or what ever.
Cant think how youd do it. Ask the guys at strathfield.
Sorry not real helpfull

4th EB2 Fairmont, EL dash and interior, BBM, LSD etc etc
5th EB Fairmont Ghia 5L. All leather, lowered, exhaust etc
The Zeus Brand DVD player that strathfield sell is bigger than DIN size.
There isn't usually a line in on most head units, usually you use an FM modulator, the DVD player may even have one built in, if not they don't cost too much, just make sure you don't buy a really cheap crappy one. Or even one of those CD car tape converters
Depending on your head unit you may even be able to connect it in the stacker input, you may run into problems with this though as most units only allow the cd to be selected when a stacker is connected, the problem here being making the unit believe that there is in fact a stacker there.
Easier to just get a decent FM modulator and use it.
hey mate, I was thinking about buying this for my AU2 as well, but the only thing stopping me was that I didnt know where to mount my screen that wouldnt look tacky, what are you planning on doing?
also when are you planning on getting it, when you do post some pics please!

Probably has RCA line outputs for audio. If you get the media input fitted, but get ford to leave the socket hanging under the dash, instead of in it. If the wont, then have it mounted in dash, then take off a set of wires in parallel to the DVD unit.
Then just cable the lineouts into the media input. Select media input on the sound system to get the DVD audio.
Thinking you may be able to mount the screen on a fold up flap on inside of glovebox door. Open the glovebox and swing it up. Alternatively, have a mount somewhere and just attach when needed.

This install is in an AU. AU's don't have the option of a media input.
I have recently fitted a DVD system consisting of 2 x 7.5inch screens, DVD player, and sony playstation.
I have made up a cabinet to fit it all in and it sits behind the 40 part of the split seats, so the kids just open it and they have access to all the good stuff, the screens sit behind the centre console for the kids, and the other one sits in front of the glovebox, below the airbag. Both screens are on brackets that I have made up.
The whole system is wired into the car with a master switch and can be removed/fitted in about 5 minutes.
I have fitted an FM modulator which is set on 89.1 so I select that channel and have stereo.
I have also made up a switching box, so that both screens can have DVD or playstation or DVD on one and Playstation on the other, with sound either through stereo or through the screen speakers. The whole set up cost just over $1100.
It works very well and keeps the kids and speed limiter (wife) occupied whilst I enjoy driving my car.
