Poor Reception (and service)

I have a AU Fairmont which had the CD player stuff up on me about 14 months ago. As it was still under warrenty I took it to Bayfords who fixed it for me. Only problem was that when I got it back, the radio reception was pathetic everytime I got out of Melbourne when it ever use to be. I rang them up and they told me that it wouldn't be anything they did and also that if anything went wrong with it while I owned the car, it was still covered for life. As I listened to CD's mainly, I never really worried about it.

Now I am heading out of Melbourne more and more, It is now really annoying me. I rang Bayfords to have another try as they definately did something wrong and now I'm told that I was only covered for 1 year which has now expired and I would be up for a minimum of $40 to look at it and more if something is wrong.

Any ideas what would be wrong?. I was thinking that maybe it just had a loose wire or something. Also, does anyone know how the warrenty works on items that have been replaced/repaired.

1. It's almost certainly the aerial connection - it's a mongrel to get the plug in properley.

2. As far as I know Ford replacement parts have lifetime warranties apart from some excepted items - regardless of this if the issue was raised with them before the end of the warranty period (if it is restricted to 12 months) then they need to fix. it.

Follow the usual steps:

Ring the Service Adviser.
Ring the Service Manager.
Ring the General Manager at Bayfords.
Ring the Dealer Principal.
If all else fails call the Ford CSC.

I had terrible radio reception IN Melbourne on my AU1 - Ford replaced the radio no probs at all - but that was while it was still under warranty.

I would follow Russ's advice if I was you - he seems to know what he is talking about when it comes to dealing with dealers.
