Premium sound

Does anyone know whether the premium sound system (the one with the hall effects, etc) was standard on the EL fairmont ghia?

Re: Premium sound

The workshop manual doesn't say what was installed in what model. All it says is "refer to owners manual" for operation of the unit.

One of those "options" things I suppose.

The Premium unit was fitted standard to EF/EL Fairmont Ghias, DF/DL LTDs, and NF Fairlane Sportsmans. It was an option on NF/NL Fairlanes.

Re: Premium sound

What was the difference between the Premium fitted to the Fairmont and the standard one fitted to the Fairlane? I'm pissed off, I want a hall effects button :)

There was no difference in the unit fitted to the Fairmont or Fairlane. The CD stacker was optional (sort of) so it's quite common to see Fairmonts and Fairlanes without the stacker in the boot.

If you want to get the Premium sound system, Bayford Parts Group in Campbellfield are selling them brand new for $400. That is with the DSP processor and all the good stuff.
