Hey Guys, just wanted some opinions on RF subs, im gonna get 1 or 2 12" subs for my Ef Ghia. can anyone tell me how much quality id be looking at if i got a P312", would a P2 or P1 be good enough. Im just looking for loud clear bass, im happy to spend the money on P3 if u guys think they'll be well worth it. i really have no idea, wheres a good place to listen to these subs i guess owuld be my best start? sydney audio shops?
Never heard this particular range, but I've actually heard pretty good things about them (compared to the previous series). I would still be wary of getting the bottom of the range simply because the previous series lower range was quite average. In reality 2 x P2 will be louder than 1 x P3. There's not really any advantages of having 2 subs over 1. In theory It will only be about a 1.3 times louder, and if anything having 1 sub would have more benefits. Space for one, and also the room to expand your system in the future.
I personally would get one good sub over two average ones...
I've listened to 2 P2's in a Qlogic box (the funkey lookin ones, like in another thread) and they sound pretty good.
I have 2X12 that are the equivalent to P3's in the last series. And they sound pretty bloody good. The new ones have been inspected again and are now 500Wrms over the 400Wrms ones I currently have.
I'd say if you can afford them go for it, but make sure you get a Ballsy Rockford amp to run them. You will be impressed.
we sell them at my work, i have installed many of the p1, p2 and p3's. The good thing about these subs is that they do not need a big box like most other subs. Off memory the 12 inch need a .85 ltr box. If you got any questions or want to come down to my work i can demo a few of them we have running on our RF demo setup.

Oh right sweet, well i can get a P3 of ebay deliverd for about 250 bux AU. Then is rockford the best choice in amps? IS it cool to have the box just free in the boot or does it need to be secured?
Well it's not a great idea to have a sub rolling around your boot, especially if you have amps in there. Easiest way to secure a box is some velcro to the carpet, or get a sheet of MDF that fits into the recessed area in your boot and bolt the sub to that.
I sent you a Pm in regards to your other questions :)
Oh right, well im thinking ill go for a P2 12" sub on it's own. Now im looking at amps, Alpines V12 MRD-M501 "225W x 1 RMS" model would be good, but i can't find it on ebay & it's not cheap RRP. I was lokin at sony's XM-2165GTX it's 1000watt, im not sure but i think it can be bridged to 1channel 400watts RMS @ 4ohms. Would this amp run the P2 well? how much better would a rockford amp or alpine amp for example be runing it?.. woul di notice a difference in sound quality or volume of bass or something?
Im not sure what the idea with ohms is, is it best to run subs on 4ohms? if run on 2 ohms ull have twice the amount of power i think? But is it not stable enough or something like that.. Cheers for all your help guy's. Am keen to get some good bass happenin in my car!!
To be honest i can't say i've heard any of the new sony stuff, but sony don't exactly have a great reputation when it comes to SQ, and i doubt much has changed with there new line of amps. They often over rate there power figures aswell, while alpine do the opposite and actually underrate them. Going from past experiences with Sony vs Alpine (comparing previous models) then the Alpine is definately the go...
You'll usually get more power out of an amp when running at a lower impedence, and yes an amp can become "unstable" and shit itself. If you are going to wire your sub/subs at a 2 ohm load, make sure the amp is 2 ohm stable.
