What do i need to do to use my car stero as a jukebox at a party without flattening the battery?

I've seen some sort of 12v converters used at autoshows for show cars that have the stereo's on all day, what are they exactly and where can I get one.

I want to use my car stero for the music, and plug something in to keep the battery charged, but I don;t want to kill the ECU and everything else.

Just ask any dick smiths or tandy. I bought a 240 volts to 12 volts convertor for my stereo when i moved here from canada. It could be played off 12volts as well as mains and it worked fine until I got the internal power source changed over. Im sure they would have something bigger to suit your needs.

Yeah just a variable regulated DC power supply (you'll want to set it at 13.5V or whatever your battery likes). Make sure you get one that can take a bit of current draw or is at least output protected.

i used to use a little transformer i got from dick smith to power the amp/sub combo i had on my pc :D but i found it to not be powerfull enough so i upgraded to a car battery charger and it was much better.
