Im pretty sure they 5 1/4 just havent gotten around to taking my doors off. Will 6" fit and for people that are running splits where did you mount the tweeter?

EF Fairmont has 6" fronts - I would think that the EL XR has the same (but could be, and probably am, wrong). The splits should mount in the top of the dash (there should already be speaker grilles in the dash, but no tweeter).

thanx for that, i was pretty sure thats where the tweeter went, should sound ok.

as for the fairmont did they recieve the high end hu and speakers, thats why it might be 6"?

i would rather have 6" splits in the front. has anyone done this without using pods that is?

EF-EL both have 6" holes in the front doors, you can JUST squeeze 6.5" in too.
i have 6.5" splits in my front doors. (mines a EF GLi)

thanx heaps for that. so 6 1/2 can fit is there any frame cutting involved?

in my ea i ended up fitting up 5 1/4 inch speakers in 4" holes hehe

i got 6.5" splits in mine, i drilled new holes, and there was a piece of cardboard between the door metal and the speaker, i could have prolly done it without the cardboard, but i was in a hurry :)

checked out the rest of your pics, why is the cardboard there, just for a tight fit?

and u mounted the tweeters on the door, any reason u didnt put them in the dash on top?

yeah, just wanted a real tight fit.
could have prolly done it without out it, but it seems to sit nicer, might look at changing it later.
i couldn't get the panel off under the windscreen, so i put em on the doors, made wiring a hell of a lot easier.
