Hi all,

I just purchased a EBII about 2 months ago...
I just realized mine does not have the smartlock mechanism,
it is also missing the keyless entry remote... i have to use the keys which i have to admit i am getting used to!

Does this mean it does not have the imobilization features too?
If so is it possible to install one, or the smartlock and how much am i looking around to do it?

It is a july 92 EBII Falcon GLi.

Any responses would be greatly appreciated.. thanks heaps

ACE IF YOUR CAR DOES NOT HAVE SMART LOCK THAN DUE TO ITS COMPUTER INTERACTION IT CAN NOT BE FITTED BEST TO GO FOR AFTER MARKET SYSTEM WITH KEYLESS ENTRY AND IMMOBIZER

Ace, does the car have the Smartlock light which flashes on the dash when the car is switched off?

If not then you dont have smartlock.

I had an EBII and the keypad would not work, so I tossed it in a draw at home. I guess the keypad only locks and unlocks the doors as my smartlock lamp stilled flashed when the ignition was turned off.

Part way into EB2 was when smartlock was introduced. 10/92 to be exact. Check the build date on the VIN plate. My EB2 was 5/92 and has no smartlock.

I hate to say it mate but isn�t this exactly what I said to you on MSN last night? That Smartlock was introduced later on and that�s why I�ve got it and you don�t. But why do you suddenly want Smartlock anyways? Do you just want it for the central locking or do you actually want the 2 point immobiliser?

Sounds like if you really want Smartlock its gona be one hell of a rewiring job�

Apparently its not actally that hard to fit smartlock.

Id would have thought Smartlock consists of the fancier locking barrell with leds to detect key? a different BEM and different EEC coding so would be a reasonable job to retrofit?

ALL OF WHAT YOU SAID PLUS ADD IN NEW LOOMS FOR DASH AND COMPUTOR SYSTEM THE COMPUTOR IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT TO NON SMARTLOCK MODELS.
