Are all smart lock remotes compatible with all cars that have smart lock installed? I got a remote from a friend and want to use it with my ED Falcon, but I don’t know what model ford it was for. Will it work?

Also, how do I reprogram the system to respond to the remote, something under the bonnet I assume?

One last thing, is smart lock standard on all fords now and since when did it become standard (1993?).

Should I have put this in the ECU and Programming forum? I saw security and thought it would have something to do with smart lock but it seems to be about alarm systems. oops! :(

Any Smartlock remote can work on any smartlock car from EB2 through to AU1. There are slightly different ways to program them on different models. EF/EL and XH uses the rear demist button to enter learn mode. I think your ED uses the Boot button to enter learn mode, but not sure, never programmed an ED.
If you have the cars owners manual, it will be in there.

fairmont1998, I have the manual but never noticed the part about programming the smart lock. Thanks for telling me it's in there, it works like a charm!

PS: Your right, on the ED it's the boot button.
