Hey there,

Im thinking about purchasing some speakers for the front doors of my ea. Wat size are compatable with these holes in the door. If i want to go bigger in the door, is it possible.... thinking maybe 6", if i cut a bigger hole in the door... could this be done.

I think the largest size speaker you can put into the front doors of an EA without modifying it is 4"
I suppose you could cut it but it would still be a tight squeeze..
A good option is to get what I have.. they are door pods and they fit nicely into the grooves at the bottom of the door..
Not sure if someone on the forums sell them?

What suspension pack did you get?. I have an EA spack and want to lower it, but not too low as I live in the country. I want the back to be the same height as the front.

EA's came with 4" Factory, EB/ED had 6" Factory.
Your only options for installing larger speakers for a EA is to change the doors or cut bigger holes, my doors are shit so i just simply cut out holes and made a thin MDF plate to screw the speakers into. Ive got 6.3/4" in the front

I cut holes in mine so that i could fit 6.5" in there...

I just used a jigsaw, then drilled the holes and screwed it straight in. I didn't need any spacers or anything.

Works like a charm!

I had to due to the speaker depth, since these are big speakers (really designed for rear parcel shelf but....)

Yer, some speakers are different than others.

Mine has a really wide magnet, rather than a deep one, which i guess made it a bit easier...

Just keep an eye on the mounting depth before you buy the speakers. I think mine are 63mm and still have some clearance before they hit the window glass.

Thats a very good point Thanatos, Always make sure you check the depth of the speaker before buying, i got all carried away with the RMS and the power of them and didnt think of the size.

could i have pics please, obviously if you are cutting the doors you didnt use the same grill that come on the door, you used the actual speaker grill.... correct?

I just used the grill that came on the door...

I doesn't have a HUGE effect on the sound. It sounds marginally better with the door trims off, but it's not really much of an issue.
