This talk about factory Ford stereo's reminded me that when I pulled mine out there were two wires that I couldn't indentify.

The stereo is just a two channel XH standard with security code.
This is the wire list I came up with, NOTE: rfa = right front active... etc.

Anyone know what these other two wires are for?

Are these wires on the back of the head unit, or the wiring loom itself??

If they-re on the head unit they maybe something to do with an ANtenna switch, or the could be some sort of triggering system for a dimmer when the lights go on.

XH, i got the details from my EF workshop manual here goes: Brown wire is Illumination
Blue Red is Dimming

I'd imagine your wiring diagram would be similar to a Gli, Futura EF1.

Oh yeah on the subject of stereo wiring after reading the workshop manual i've got an idea now to make my baby have 6 speakers. It's got the place for it on the top of the dash.

Yep this is correct,
an easy way to get these lines is
1. Brown wire, get this from the Cigarette Lighter illumination, (from the back of the Bulb)
2. Blue / Red - Get this from the PRND321 Auto shifter Illumination, etc etc.

I also have the Original ford Tweeters from the crash pad, if anyone is interested (top of the dash) ???? (they have the mounting brackets, screws, plugs etc etc. - They are just sitting around doing Sweet FA, and arent worth much to me ????) Probably sell them for $5 for the pair - (To pay for shipping etc)
Anyone want them ????

Aren't they the same thing??? They could be both be connected to the same point...

Go for it EF_Falcon_GuY .... the tweeters make a huge difference .... I have them on my XR and it really opens up the sound stage.

On High series, the PRND321 Lamp is connected to the Dimmer,
I.E. if you Dim the lights, then this bulb also dims
The Cigarette Lamp on the other hand is not.
(I.E. Dimming the Interior lamps does not dim the Cigarette lighter lamp. It is constantly on full brightness +12V)
I am pretty sure that this is the case for all models (EF/EL), but not 100% sure. (Too lazy to look it up in the Workshop Manual).
