metal boy

I am looking for a new single DIN SQ HU, something that will last a few years without any problems. Essentially this means that I will be looking at spending ~$650-$900.

As I am aiming for a SQ orientated system, therefore I am particularly interested in Alpine, Clarion, JVC, Nakamichi etc HU's.

I need the unit to have:
- High end sound quality
- Ability to play all cd's, CD-R etc without reading small scratches into the reprodcution
- At least 2 RCA preouts, if not 3
- Some form of equalisation (not a simple bass/treble toggle)

Please reccommend specific models and pricing, and let me know your peronsal experiences, good and bad with such models.
