Re: Tweeters in Rear?

There should be no probs puttin splits in rear. If ur in front of car it will ound fine but passengers in rear will hear sound wierdly. My advice is put tweeters on shelf near windows and use windows to bounce treble around cabin.

Re: Tweeters in Rear?

Generally splits are not required in the rear. Good quality 2 ways will go. The rear are it fill in only, same with the sub's. The front speakers have to be the best set up...

Re: Tweeters in Rear?

i have 2 sets of splits running, one in the front with tweeters on the dash, and the other set in the back tray with tweeters mounted, just make shure you aim the tweeters at the opposite headrest, and the sound will flow nicely.

Re: Tweeters in Rear?

ltdho is right rear speakers are only for fill put pronounced highs in the rear will make the sound appear from the rear all you need is a good set of 6 inchs dual cones (or 6 1/2 's) and you don't need 6 x 9's in the rear anyway if your running subs they'll be drowned out in the lowest ranges and subs and 6x9's fight each other during cross over frequencies

Re: Tweeters in Rear?

I don't even run rear speakers anymore, the only good that I believe comes from them is they can lift the sound stage a little if you use them as ambience drivers, or to stop the winging of the passengers in the back saying theres too much bass I want my sound as far forward as possible...

Running speakers in the rears tends to drag the sound stage back to the middle of the car. Also, alot of people are misled into thinking that splits are meant to have the tweeter and mids installed far away from each other, and that the goal is to make it sound like the different frequency ranges are coming from different sources. This is further from the truth, as you should be aiming at installing the mids and tweets as close to each other as possible so it gives the illusion that the sound is coming from a single source.
