Hey all,

Just wondering where ford has stashed away the amp in their premium sound systems in a NC fairlane? Also, are they any good? (being factory I assume not)

I was wondering would they be able to run anything bigger than the dicky 8" they have in the back?

They are usually under the boot lining on the right hand side of the car. If its a BA its on the left side. You just gotta take the clips out of the lining and peel back the carpet and it should be there.

Thanks vigilante, as for quality are they alpine like the rest of the system or not? what is their rms?

They are usually Eurovox amps or something similar. They are fine for the standard system in the car, but if you want something with a bit more punch without spending to much cash go Pioneer or the new US Audio amps that we sell, that have a flexible circuit board with cushioning so you can mount it next to your subs without electrical components jumping off the circuit board. Awesome quality and well priced. $300 for a 660W 4Ch

The one that was in the back of my ed sprint was an alpine one but had a ford badge printed on it. Mine was a four channel one, but didnt have any adjustment in it.

Two channels had a high pass filter hard wired and the other two had a low pass filter hard wired, so you couldnt adjust them and the gain knobs didnt do anything either.

Vigilante is right the best thing to do is get something more powerful if you want to run more than the powerhouse 8" that is standard.

They are Alpine part number 3552. I never knew Ford to use Eurovox???

They are of high quality, I understand that Ford Motor Co. employed someone from Alpine to design it. I have a substantial stereo in the LTD and I use it to power the DDDrives in the rear.

If you don't want it I'd buy it.

So does anyone have specs of the amp? I have removed mine and run a different one but use the standard wiring.

i have the amp out of my eb ghia. it's a 4 channel alpine amp(marked as ford). my amp has hp or full range on channel 1-2, 3-4 has LP and full range. and all my gains work fine. i reckon it's agreat amp. i use it to power my alpine type R's 6.5" in the rear.

i think it's 40 rms x 4. but i reckon it's a bit more than that.
