yeah, may only be 135kw at the wheels but I bet the torque is through the roof. the 4.1 was never going to be a high kw engine but the torque potential was awesome.
It was 140kw @ wheels at summernats. XE/XF's are only 1380kg so she wouldnt be slow.
No 1/4 times. It was produced after a thesis on injector placement for toque/hp and fuel economy so its not an outright screamer, just a nice daily driver. Potential for 280hp plus @ the fly from what ive seen with another crossflow with STD efi intake and aftermarket ecu.
If you took all the external parts and the cam and then bolted it into another 250 crossflow (simplistically speaking) you should make almost the same power. Even at that power level a multi coil pack ignition would do little for power improvement.
All of the internal parts on that motor are "nice to have's" not "need to have's".
Also with aftermarket efi you can tune it to make up for some of the lost torque of a short runner manifold.
710nm isnt much, ive got a dyno sheet of my car making 127kw@4800 and 604nm@3800 in 3rd gear. should have more torque than that as i had a crap exhaust then.
