General performance stuff... heads, cam, intake, exhaust, extractors etc. Possibly forced induction..

Re: 250 Inline-Six Mods

Budget is yet to be planned - have to see how much things cost before I choose a mod path/form a budget first

Re: 250 Inline-Six Mods

I had an XF EFI pre 85 i think ( it didn't require a cat) i spend quite a bit on it, 1900$ on the head, 1800$ on the FMX box and 1400$ to get the 9" LSD diff fited with the XF disk brakes, end result was 13.2 1/4 BUT back then there was no dyno so I got no idea how much power it was making but i know I droped a second over the quarter when I got the FMX in as i could lauch at 4900 RPM (shifting from N to D) the cam I used was from heat seaker the J something fuel injection system was slighty modified and the vane airflow meter was taken out from what I can remember hell it was in '94

There is a war inside my head, if I take a day off I'll die!

This cat, is cat, a cat, good cat, way cat, to cat, keep cat, a cat, idiot cat, busy cat, for cat, 20 cat, seconds cat! Now read it all without the word cat!

Re: 250 Inline-Six Mods

Well here's my suggestion for a reasonable N/A build

EL crankshaft
200ci rods
ACL pistons with moly rings (only go to the minimal o/s you need depending on condition of block.
Balance all the bottom end
Double row timing chain

Mild head work would include shaving about .020", cleaning up the short radii in the ports and deburring / polishing, and get a good 3 angle valve job

You will need to fit new valve springs if you go any higher than an EFI spec cam, which I suggest you shouldn't go too much over for an auto unless you put a stall converter in.

Port match the inlet manifold and get someone in the know to play with the carby a little, the webbers can put out some fairly impressive numbers if done properly.

Extractors, preferably good s/steel set followed by at least 2.25 exhaust system.

Don't overlook things like type of air filter setup or what coil you run as these all have a significant bearing on the amount of power you will get.

And if you want to start chasing those few extra kW's lying about try removing the fan and fit thermos and an electric water pump.

My 2cents worth.
